The cadet circuit of Biathlon opened today in the windy Sjusjoen with the first of two Sprints on the calendar in the Norwegian town.

In a race without any 10/10 and with only three biathletes who have only once covered the penalty ring, the German Lucas Fratzscher, second last year in the general classification of the IBU Cup, imposed himself after having made a single mistake to the first polygon. Second position at 5.7 for the Austrian Harald Lemmerer (0-1) while the Norwegian Aleksander Fjeld Andersen, in the lead after the first shooting session managed to get on the third step of the podium at 17.3 despite three errors in feet. Norway's Fredrik Gjesbakk (1.3), fourth ahead of Swede Brandt (0 + 2) and compatriot Pettersen (2 + 3), is fourth at 55 seconds.
The first Italian in the standings is Thierry Chenal (0-3) who closes in thirty-ninth position almost three minutes from the winner ahead of two places Patrick Braunhofer (2 + 3); farther back, Livigno, Saverio Zini (3 + 4), 74th.
The weather conditions worsened for the women's race where only three athletes limited the damage to two errors but the victory went to the Norwegian Karoline Erdal (1 + 2) who dueled until the last on the wire with the US Kelsey Dickinson (0 + 2) who took the first podium in the cadet circuit at 6.6.Third place, a slower second, for German Maren Hammerschmidt (2 + 2) who leaves Sweden's Hoegberg (1 + 3) down from the podium which closes less than ten seconds before the winner.
Alexia Runggaldier, twenty-third, is the best Italian with four errors and a gap of 1.54.9; three positions behind Michela Carrara, twenty-sixth at 2''05 "0 from Erdal. A bad day for Irene Lardschneider who pays 7 laps of penalty, closing in sixty-third position.
