The Pole chooses to rest at competitions and in the post-Olympic year she hangs up her sticks and returns to her best in 2024.

The Polish biathlete Monica Hojnisz-Starega will not participate in the new edition of CdM biathlon which will start on November 29th from Kohntiolathi in Finland.
The 31-year-old from Chorzow takes a break from winter competitions, making her decision official only on Friday after missing all the summer rallies of the Polish national team at the expense of a private training session. Therefore, she will take a sabbatical year which aligns with that of the French Braisaz-Bouchet, who, however, is on maternity leave.
"After years of training I have decided to take a break. I want to rest physically and mentally. This does not mean that I will leave biathlon forever on the contrary, I want to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina" he told the Polish media.
In career Monica Hojnisz has taken part in three Olympics in which they stand out a fifth place in the mass start of Sochi 2014, seventh place in the individual of Pyeongchang 2018 and ninth in the pursuit of Beijing 2022. In addition, she boasts a bronze medal at the World Championships in Nove Mesto 2013 in the mass start.
