Following the investigation of doping leaped to the news in recent days the president of the International Biathlon Federation has resigned, giving way to Klaus Leistner.

Besseberg and the leaders of the IBU have been accused of covering up 65 cases of doping in exchange for a large sum of money. The investigation, initially conducted by Wada, would cover the period 2010-2017 and would involve Russian athletes.
The Norwegian rejected the accusations, circumscribing the problem at the World Championships in 2017 in Hochfilzen: "We are accused of not doing the anti-doping tests to the Russian biathletes present at the World Championships in Hochfilzen 2017, but we have done everything according to the rules. I am clear, I have never hidden a single case of doping During the period of the investigation - Besseberg continued - I will leave my job to a very competent person ".
Initially this figure was supposed to be the vice-president of IBU Viktor Maigourov, who, however, being Russian, refused the job, thus leaving room for German Klaus Leistner, who presumably will lead the federation until the new elections.
