As reported by the IBU, the Norwegian government, due to the spread of Coronavirus, which in the Scandinavian country has now exceeded 250 infections, advised to cancel events with more than 500 spectators.

Taking note of the provision, the International Federation asked for more details and explanations, since the final stage of the 2019/20 World Cup, scheduled for March 20-22 on the Holmenkollen hill, would be directly involved.
After the cancellations of the finals in Cortina, the Alpine Snowboard competitions in Livigno and the final races of the European Alpine Ski Cup, biathlon could therefore also be affected by the health emergency, which now does not only concern Italy or China, but the whole world.
However, the cancellation of the stage is not the only hypothesis put in place by the IBU. Pending clarifications from Oslo, it is still possible to carry out the competitions behind closed doors, as happened in Nove Mesto, or to move to another location, which could be Kontiolahti, the venue for the weekend races and already equipped to host an event of this level.
