Irene Lardschneider should have taken part, in this first weekend of September, in the German championships as a useful test for her and fifteen other Azzurri with a view to the 2022/23 season. On Thursday, however, the 1998 South Tyrolean class communicated to the technical staff of the national team, to then formalize his choice via social media, of wanting to leave the world of biathlon with immediate effect. The many physical problems, in particular those that forced Irene to skip practically the entire last season, meant that the young woman from Val Gardena decided to say enough, in the midst of preparing for a year in which to try to win a place in the sun, or in that World Cup in which she arrived almost 4 years ago, obtaining a placement in points thanks to the 24th place in the Sprint of the world championship in Pokljuka 2021. Lardschneider was an expected high-level talent, just think of the two youth world titles he won in 2017, but something went wrong. “Thanks Biathlon - thus begins the social message of the blue to announce the farewell to competition - After being an important chapter in my life, my career ends here. For health reasons, I leave competitive sport with regret, but with the awareness of having practiced it for many years with a lot of passion. The people I got to know and the experiences I lived made me grow and will remain forever in my heart.
