Johannes Boe closes his season early: "I have to recover and prepare for the next four years"

The announcement of the Norwegian champion, who will miss the last three stages of the Biathlon World Cup and is already looking forward to the 2026 Olympic Games.

The Norwegian Biathlon Federation has announced that Johannes Boe will no longer compete this season, as confirmed by the same four-time Olympic gold medalist at the recent Beijing 2022 Games. “Both physically and mentally, the last year has been very difficult to cause of the pandemic and the plan put in place to get to the Olympics in good shape. Since the 2018 Games, I have not been able to take a long break and, therefore, now I am taking some time to be ready and motivated for the next four years preceding the 2026 Olympic Games with the competitions that will be staged in Anterselva ". Being far in the World Cup standings, fifth at almost 200 points from the leader Quentin Fillon Maillet, Boe is definitely aiming for next season to return to high levels. A decision that goes in agreement with the leaders of the federation: “We naturally respect Johannes's decision and we understand that last year was difficult. He wants to keep fit and has already set himself the goal of winning the overall cup standings next season, ”announced Per Arne Botnan, sporting director of the national team. As a result, Boe will be replaced by Sverre Dahlen Aspenes and will miss the stages of Kontiolahti, Otepaa and Oslo.
