The biathlon circuit will not go to China for the World Cup races which are also valid as pre-Olympic tests, but the same scenario could also become reality for the various disciplines under the aegis of FIS.
Yesterday the IBU officially announced the cancellation of the eighth stage of the maximum circuit, scheduled in Beijing from 26 February to 1 March 2021, obviously due to the problems related to Covid and therefore to the various restrictions in place. It is possible that we will go towards a double appointment in Oslo-Holmenkollen, the last stage after Nove Mesto in March, but the discussions are open after taking this decision which also raises a thousand doubts about the possibility of carrying out international competitions as tests before the Games Olympic Games of February 2022.
The same will be true for cross-country skiing, jumping, Nordic combined, snowboarding and perhaps also for alpine skiing (which foresees only women's speed races in Yanqing at the end of February for the current World Cup), with the organizing committee of Beijing 2022 which will deal with the IOC and each federation in this regard.
