The difficult summer of Tiril Eckhoff

Despite the third and fourth place obtained last week at Sandnes in the Blinkfestivalen, his best performance in the Norwegian summer event, Tiril Eckhoff is preparing a troubled summer preparation.

It all started in early May in Holmenkollen when a fall during a ski roll workout caused her to have a large hematoma in her hip that forced her to reduce the intensity of her training for at least a month but, once she was found full efficiency, the 2016 World Sprint champion in Oslo at the beginning of July broke her little finger on the right foot by doing exercises in her country residence. Patrick Oberegger, the 12-month South Tyrolean coach from the Norwegian women's biathlon after years at the helm of the blue movement, told the Dagbladet newspaper that Tiril Eckhoff was unable to run or wear race shoes. In the last meeting before Blink Festivalen the solution was found by cutting the shoe to leave space for the fractured finger. "I can't run yet," says Eckhoff, "but I can get on the rollers. During this time I trained the upper body" while Oberegger confirms that the preparation should not have suffered, "he trained with the bicycle and at the rallies I saw that he is in good shape. I am not worried about the season to come, I believe that Tiril is stronger than before ". Eckhoff estimates that in two weeks the foot should be healed, in time for summer altitude gatherings.
