The Finnish Olympic Committee has officially announced the names of five athletes who will take part in the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014. Finland should not take full advantage of its quota.

Those selected are the following:
UOMINIHIIDENSALO Olli (1991) Jarkko Kauppinen (1983) Ahti Toivanen (1990) DONNELAUKKANEN Mari (1987) Mäkäräinen Kaisa (1983) Hiidensalo is considered a reserve and, although writing in the Olympic Games, will stay at home. The interesting fact is that Finland has the right to send 5 men and 5 women, but now would exploit only half the places at his disposal.
The Olympic Committee will announce the final squad for the 2014 Sochi on Monday 27th January but everything suggests that there will be other biathletes.
Consequently, Finland should give up on deploying relays. Furthermore, the decision should open the door to the repechage. Therefore, Spain and Belgium in the men's field, Andorra, Spain and Hungary in the women's game should be in Russia.
Regarding Finland all hopes of medals are obviously focused on Kaisa Mäkäräinen.
