French Richard and Russian Irodov Oro in the Under 18 Individual

The Biathlon World Youth Championships opened in Obertillach with the assignment of the titles in the Individual of the Youth categories.

It is the eighteen-year-old Frenchwoman Jeanne Richard (1-1-0-0), already a Silver medal in the Individual at the Youth Olympic Games last year, who won the Gold medal after two errors at the shooting range and the third time on narrow skis. In the final order of arrival the transalpine precedes the Slovenian Lena Repic by 32.7 seconds (1-1-1-1), who did not have the best time on skis with 46 seconds ahead of the blue Linda Zingerle and 57 seconds on the winner, and of 1.03.1 the Slovak Ema Kapustova (0-0-0-0). The Swedish Sara Andersson (0-0-0-2) is fourth by only 5 tenths and precedes the Belarusian Kavaleuskaya (1-0-1-1) and the Russian Grishina (0-1-0-1). Martina Trabucchi (1-2-1-0), ninth at 2.33.9 is the first of the blue while Linda ZIngerle (2-1-2-1) is twelfth at 2.48.5. Twenty-seventh Sara Scattolo (0-1-1-4). In the men's field, the world title goes to Russian Denis Irodov (2-0-0-0), also Silver in the last YOG but in the Sprint. The silver medal is won by the seventeen-year-old Frenchman E.Geny (0-1-0-2) who pays 32.4 seconds to the winner at the finish line and precedes the Austrian Leon Kienesberger (0-0-1- 1). The Aosta Valley Nicolò Betemps (2-1-1-1), member of the quartet that in 2020 won the Gold at the YOG in the Mixed Relay, is the best of the Italians and closes in eleventh position at 1.19.7. Twenty-first place for Fabio Piller Cottrer (2-1-1-1), twenty-sixth Stefan Navillod (1-0-1-2). The other veteran of the golden relay, Marco Barale (1-2-1-3) closes in thirty-seventh place.
