Laura Dahlmeier, the resounding announcement: "I withdraw, I no longer feel 100% passion"

The German star says just 25 years old, like compatriot Lena Neuner in 2012. Leave with 2 Olympic golds, 7 gold medals and 1 World Cup on the bulletin board

He was back in the air a year after that post-Olympic spring in which he feared the possibility of leaving the biathlon world. Another season has gone on, full of problems already in the preparation phase and without too much satisfaction (for its absolute champion level) despite a couple of medals at the World Championships in Ostersund. Now it is official: Laura Dahlmeier retires at the age of 25, at the same age as the one everyone was predicting would inherit, or the divine Lena Neuner. "I no longer feel the 100% passion", the first words of the star of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who wants to try new adventures and, as known, will be able to dedicate himself with even more time and motivation to mountaineering. Laura won everything in just a few years, from the general World Cup in 2016 to 16 victories (individual) in the maximum circuit, but above all the 2 Olympic gold medals in PyeonChang (double sprint-pursuit, in addition to bronze in the 'individual) and the beauty of 15 world medals, including 7 golds and the five magic one obtained in Hochfilzen 2017, when it touched the legendary 6 out of 6 losing the sprint for only 4 seconds. "After an incredibly hard and full of ups and downs, I thought for a long time and decided to end my biathlon career - Laura confessed - I spent a lifetime completely dedicated to this sport, I was able to experience intense and well-known moments wonderful companions and supporters, without whom all this would not have been possible. The years spent in this sport have made me what I am, I can only thank everyone. Now it's time for new adventures, it's time to close the biathlon chapter ”.
