With the fifth stage of the World Cup now behind us and the Ruhpolding races in sight (the long weekend of competitions will start on Wednesday with the women's Sprint) let's take a look at the World Cup rankings.

At the halfway point, the crystal ball race sees only one woman in command: Mars Roeiseland. With the double Sprint-Pursuit of Oberhof the Norwegian has risen to 5 wins and 7 podiums of the season. In the standings there are 537 points and the margin against Elvira Oeberg is considerable (+88). The young Swede with 449 points precedes Alimbekava (418) and her sister Hanna (404). A Sprint and a Pursuit are scheduled for next week in Ruhpolding, two fundamental races, given the many absences that will then be in Anterselva. Roeiseland itself has already announced that it will miss the Italian stage. Speaking of Italy, Wierer is 13th in the ranking with 246 points, Vittozzi 21st with 182. Roeiseland also leads the Sprint rankings, with 7 points ahead of Sola, and Pursuit, where the margin over Elvira Oeberg is instead of over 40 points.

In the men's field, the Oberhof Pursuit resulted in the overtaking of Fillon Maillet at the top of his teammate Jacquelin. The two Frenchmen lead the ranking with 461 and 449 points ahead of Samuelsson (245) and the Norwegians Tarjei Boe (404) and Christiansen (379). The stage in Thuringia issued other important verdicts: the exclusion from the cup race of Johannes Boe, already delayed by over one hundred points and about to miss Ruhpolding, and that of Latypov, before Oberhof fifth in the general but then forced to stop due to Covid.
