Sprint world champion Alexander Loginov starts with 7 ”ahead of Quentin Fillon Maillet, the French currently in better shape and favorite together with Johannes Boe for the world title. Boe has the bib number 5 and must recover 17 "to the transalpine rival and 24" to the tread. The fight for the podium, however, involves two other Frenchmen, Martin Fourcade and Emilien Jacquelin, and the Norwegian Tarjei Boe.
