The long Swedish trip was lacking in satisfactions for Italy, led by Wierer and Vittozzi. The two big blue will have to send positive signals already from Hochfilzen: a favorable competition context. Doro boasts two successes in the format in Austria, where he won in 2018 and 2019. Vittozzi, on the other hand, is chasing his first podium but the main objective is to fix the percentages in the ground shooting. The Italian quintet will be completed by Comola, fresh from an excellent relay race, Carrara and Fauner, promoted by the Ibu Cup in place of Auchentaller.

Many athletes start with ambitions of victory and podium: Hanna Oeberg and Hauser, winners of the first two sprints of the season, with the Austrian who will wear the yellow bib as leader of the general; Elvira Oeberg, currently number one on skis; Mars Roeiseland, winner of the Oestersund Pursuit and given by many as a favorite in the crystal ball race. The Norwegian has already won twice in Hochfilzen but never in a Sprint, a format in which she does not find success from the World Championships in Anterselva. Tiril Eckhoff, who in these parts last year started his winning season with a double Sprint-Pursuit, will try to find himself after a start to forget.
