After three seasonal tests, eight athletes are able to get on the podium in the format, including some surprises, such as Kuehn and Smolski, first and third last week in Hochfilzen. In a situation of great balance and with many athletes as possible protagonists, the certainty is Sebastian Samuelsson, leader of the specialty classification thanks to the two victories in Oestersund. The 1997 class must prove its worth even outside the Swedish competition context to confirm itself at the top of the overall. Among the many athletes who are candidates for a leading role is Lukas Hofer, who is growing in condition week after week. For Italy there will also be Tommaso Giacomel, Thomas Bormolini and Cappellari, making their seasonal debut in the World Cup.

If Samuelsson is certain, the biggest question mark of the Sprint and the stage of Le Grand Bornand is Johannes Boe. The Norwegian returns to another of his fiefdoms, where he has obtained six victories, two of which in today's format. Also in Hochfilzen the competition context was friendly but the results on an individual level were lacking. Different speech for the relays, where Boe gave his best, making the difference both in Oestersund and in Austria.
