If in the women's field Eckhoff seems the clear favorite to conquer the general classification of the World Cup, in the men's sector the situation is very uncertain and the eighth Sprint of the season could be a decisive watershed.

The duelists always fly the Norwegian flag and are Johannes Boe and Sturla Holm Laegreid. “Giovannino” is in command of the overall but his teammate would be virtually in the lead considering the current gaps. With three stages to be disputed (this is the first individual race for men in Nove Mesto) anything can happen but today's race could already be fundamental, also in view of tomorrow’s Pursuit.

In the season Boe boasts three wins and two third places in the format, while Laegreid has won only in the second Sprint of Hochfilzen. The two chose to start in the first group and drew 12 and 31 respectively. World champion Martin Ponsiluoma will open the race. Five blues in the race: Dominik Windisch (16), Thomas Bormolini (44), Lukas Hofer (49), who unlike most of the "bigs" chose the second group, Didier Bionaz (83) and Tommaso Giacomel (102 ).
