Makarainen and Julia Simon took up the summer championships

The national summer biathlon championships in Finland and France also took place last weekend.

At Kontiolahti, the Finnish championships saw Kaisa Makarainen's double in the women's field, which dominated the sprint on Saturday with a one and a half minute advantage over Nastasia Kinnunen and Mari Eder Laukannen. The 2018 World Cup winner also made her mark on Sunday's chase despite five errors on the pitch ahead of Suvi Minkkinen and Venia Lehtonen. In the men's field, the Finnish title of Sprint was conquered by Tuomas Harjula while Tero Seppala won the pursuit. Instead, the world of French biathlon was found in Premanon Les Tuffes. In the Sprint with three reloads available, Julia Simon prevails, just 4 seconds ahead of Justine Braisaz and 46 seconds of Myrtille Begue. The podium is confirmed in the Sunday chase, which does not award a national title which will be contested in Arcon in October, where the Savoyard distances Braisaz by 41 seconds and Begue by 1’16 ”. In the men's field it is the enfant du pays Quentin Fillon Maillet who imposed himself in the Sprint which for 13 seconds denied Martin Fourcade the joy of a national title on his thirty-first birthday. Third place at 29 seconds for Simon Desthieux who, after the disqualification of Martin Fourcade first at the finish line for losing the helmet, won the pursuit on Sunday. Desthieux precedes by 13 seconds Fillon Maillet and 26 seconds by Emilien Jacquelin,
