Martin Fourcade's sporting career ended in March, with a splendid victory in the pursuit of Kontiolahti, but another important recognition for the French champion came just in these days: according to a survey by Odoxa (leading French research institute in the field of polls) the former French biathlete was chosen by the interviewees as the French sportsman of the year 2020, with 22% of the preferences.
A very gratifying success for Fourcade, which in the farewell season was able to win two specialty cups (individual and sprint) and two world medals, especially for the caliber of the athletes who followed him in this special ranking, namely the footballer of Paris Saint-Germain and of the national team Kylian Mbappé and cyclist Julien Alaphilippe, winner of the world title at Imola 2020.
The women's award, on the other hand, went ex-aequo to the footballer Eugénie Le Sommer and the freestyle skier Pierrine Laffont.
The survey was carried out between December 16 and 17, when a sample of French people were interviewed online.
