The French Olympic Committee decided yesterday, resolving a duel with Renaud Lavillenie who broke the transalpine sport, in favor of the Biathlon champion.

The committee, composed of fifteen people, which met on Wednesday evening expressed itself in favor of Martin Fourcade, rejecting the candidacy of Renaud Lavillenie who was to join next summer during the Tokyo Olympics.
Late on the announced schedule, the president of the CNOSF, Denis Masseglia gave the announcement: "The name of the candidate that will be presented is Martin Forucade, clearly in 2022". Few laconic words while, despite the result of the vote being secret, Tony Estanguet, outgoing French representative, commented that the commission was divided.
Reached by telephone, Fourcade commented: "It is only a stage but this evening we have not yet won anything. I live a feeling of responsibility towards Renaud that he will not run. Now I will have to do everything to be elected. Time has fallen [the candidacy of the biathlete could have been sanctioned in two years, ed] but I'm glad that we had the opportunity to discuss to choose a candidate ".
