In the morning today, the German biathlete Johannes Kuehn was found positive at Covid and will therefore be forced to skip the home stage of Ruhpolding. Kuehn, winner of this year's Hochfilzen sprint, has already been isolated. Local authorities are hard at work tracing the contacts and subsequently making a decision on their respective quarantines.
With Kuehn in isolation, the German national team runs for cover calling Philipp Horn to the rescue, who has not achieved significant results this season. According to the official website of the international biathlon federation, 160 swabs were carried out in Ruhpolding; IBU reports that in addition to Kuehn, a Norwegian staff member and a Ukrainian team member with two other close contacts have also been quarantined.
All three national teams will carry out more frequent tests in the coming days to keep the situation under control, while the women's Sprint will start at 2.30 pm and tomorrow it will be the men's turn.
