Biathlonworld cup 2021/22

Lukas Hofer stops: "My body still doesn't work as it should, I will miss the next races"

Biathlon: for the blue tip of the men's sector, 2022 will also start uphill. No Oberhof (6-9 January), we will try to recover the best condition for the Olympic Games.

Lukas Hofer will not take part in the next stage of the World Cup in Oberhof, from 6 to 9 January, according to what was announced on social media by the carabiniere of Brunico. The suboptimal state of health does not allow him to be in top form, after taking part in the World Team Challenge a few days ago in Ruhpolding. The weather in the German town was certainly not ideal, with the rain that dominated it and the cold that made itself felt. Hofer paired with Dorothea Wierer then closed the event in seventh place. Jumping Oberhof has a certain weight, given that in that context of the race, the blue has been able to capture excellent placings in the podium area in recent years. Consequently, the South Tyrolean could re-enter the World Cup, barring deterioration, in the Ruhpolding stage scheduled from 12 to 16 January. "My body still does not work as it should - said Hofer, short of podiums in the first part of the season like the entire Italian biathlon national team - so we decided to skip the next races".
