At the age of 30, the Frenchman left dismayed by the successes and valuable medals obtained together with his fellow adventurers Martin Fourcade and Questin Fillon Maillet

After the Olympics it is usually time to say goodbye or almost and if yesterday Windisch put an end to his biathlete career, today it is Simon Destieux's turn to hang up his skis. Like Windisch, the Frenchman will finish his cycle as a professional next weekend in the Oslo-Holmenkollen stage, the last round of the 2021-2022 World Cup.
As far as his career is concerned, Destieux has covered himself with prestigious laurels including two Olympic medals in the Pyeongchang 2018 mix relay and in the Beijing 2022 relay and three world medals, two of which in teams and one individual. Finally, he captured two individual victories for a total of eight podiums and ten World Cup relay victories.
The transalpine greets on Instagram with a post thanking all those who believed in him during this journey that lasted 10 years as a Fourcade squire: "It's time for you to leave biathlon. I loved every moment, every race, every emotion of this sport, making my dream come true. I thank all those who love me and who helped me grow and believed in me to allow me to live this passion of mine. Now, the time has come to think about my family and friends. See you soon, Simon ”.
