Earthquake in the Polish biathlon. Kowalczyk leaves the coaching staff

The multi-medal winner of the Olympic and World and Polish cross-country skiing championships has not withstood the impact of internal differences and abandons the position of the national biathlon team.

Cross-country ski champion Justyna Kowalczyk announced in a Twitter release that she was leaving her role as technical manager of the team, with three other coaches following her in the decision. "From today I no longer work for the Polish biathlon federation. Coaches Slonin, Jakla and Wieretielna have also resigned. I thank the athletes and coaches for their support. In case of need, she will be happy to be there. Help" His collaboration with the Polish national team began in March 2021, replacing Kolodziejczyk as technical manager. An adventure that lasted a year and a half in which the frictions and differences with the latter for his methods had led the Polish champion to consider resigning as early as July. Joanna Badacz's recent election to the presidency of the Polish biathlon seemed to have calmed things down after a meeting between the two and the new president, but a few weeks later Kowalczyk raised the white flag. The malaise of this decision has already been felt among the athletes in which the biathlete Guzik commented to Sport.pl that he was not satisfied with this loss within the team declaring it a step backwards for the benefit of his national team.
