The IBU, the Blinkfestival and the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival find an agreement to promote biathlon and the Summer Biathlon World Championships is born.

The international biathlon federation has just released a statement confirming the agreement to improve the popularity of biathlon away from the winter period. A new series of events, competitions that from 2023 will be part of the Summer Biathlon World Championships, with the Blinkfestival and the event founded by Martin Fourcade maintaining their status as autonomous events.
“We are delighted to announce the partnership with the Blinkfestival and MFNF to increase the popularity of the summer biathlon. Creating a summer biathlon series is part of the IBU strategic plan and also raising the level, broadening horizons and maximizing the promotion of this sport. We believe that the best way to do this is to cooperate with top-level partners as we aim to have better quality events while encouraging as many nations as possible to participate ”. These are the words of IBU president Olle Dahlin.
There were also words in favor of Martin Fourcade and Arne Idland presidents of the MFNF of the Blinkfestival:
“BLINK was founded in 2006 and has since grown into the largest biathlon and cross country ski roll event in the world through scenic Lysebotn scenery to beautiful Sandnes City. We are proud to take this step forward in partnership with MFNF and the IBU to improve biathlon throughout the year, ”said Idland. "My hope after founding the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival was to create a disruptive experience for athletes and fans outside of its natural context: in the summer in the cities. Inspired by the IBU competitions that I competed in for 12 years, and not just because the Blinkfestival was my summer event to compete in. Today I am happy to push myself further with the IBU and the Blinkfestival and promote our beautiful sport together, "concluded Fourcade.
A real step forward in the evolution of biathlon which will now open new doors to new adventures and new events for athletes and fans who love this fantastic sport.
