The Covid emergency returns to hit the biathlon. After Hochfilzen in early December and Oberhof on January 6-9, Anterselva also has to bow in the presence of the public. Through official channels and a press release, the organizing committee has announced the decision to propose its World Cup races behind closed doors. “For months we have been working with great optimism on a concept of safety to be able to organize, even with a small number of spectators, our traditional World Cup week. Unfortunately, however, given the current dramatic situation of Covid-19 and the worrying forecasts for the next few weeks, we are forced to play Anterselva 2022 without spectators in the stadium ”, says the President of the Organizing Committee, Lorenz Leitgeb, with regret.
“It is a painful but inevitable decision, taken in agreement with the representatives of the provincial government, to guarantee everyone the highest degree of safety. The health of athletes, technicians, companions and spectators remains an absolute priority. All fans who have already purchased admission tickets will of course be refunded. However, the Organizing Committee asks for some patience, having to concentrate now on organizing the races. Refunds will be made immediately after the end of the World Cup. All the necessary information will follow ”.
