In the late afternoon today was staged in Gelsenkirchen the XV edition of the World Team Challenge, now traditional Christmas exhibition, whose main function is to act as a perfect prologue to the German stages.

The event, held on the distance of the two heats (mass start followed by tracking) has seen the success of the German tandem of Vanessa Hinz and Simon Schempp. Curiously, this team should not even compete, as the twenty-four Bavarian replaced in extremis Franziska Preuss, forced to forfeit due to illness of the season.

At last the lowest rung of the podium was occupied by the Russians Olga Podchufarova and Alexey Volkov, who in the final of the French duo have been right anaïs bescond / Jean Guillaume Beatrix, relegated to fourth.
The 'Italian - represented by Dorothea Wierer and Dominik Windisch - has always been in the running for the third currency, but in the closing bars lost ground and stood in eighth place, even surpassed by Austria, Norway and the Czech Republic.
Archived this fun event, now biathletes will prepare for the resumption of scheduled World Cup on January 5 in the charming Oberhof (Thuringia).
