Wierer smiles after the 10th place in Oberhof: "Satisfied with the performance, I needed the break"

Best result of the season in a sprint for the Italian leader, now ready for the relay. Bormolini, great 13th in the men's race: "First polygon very difficult, but I wanted zero and I found it".

The performance of the Italians in today's Sprint in Oberhof brought good results to the blue movement of the biathlon after the Christmas break. Dorothea Wierer finished in tenth place, with a reduced gap from Roeiseland to aim for a great Pursuit on Sunday (but we will see her in the mixed relay on Saturday): “One mistake ok, but I thought I'd make another one because it ended in a really lucky way. I heard a strange noise, in my opinion it was more outside than inside, ”said Wierer with his best sprint performance of the season. Despite the difficult conditions, albeit better than those found in the morning by the men, the South Tyrolean declared that she was satisfied with her test: "Quite happy with the shooting range on the ground, I kept a good pace, but I was also lucky because I had regular wind, ”continued Wierer. A condition improved with the passing of the days shooting, also thanks to the Christmas rest that allowed her to recharge her batteries. Satisfied even more than Dorothea is Thomas Bormolini, capable of equaling the best performance in his career with very complicated weather conditions. The Livigno in the end finished 13th: “The first polygon was very difficult, but I wanted zero and I found it. On my feet I was the protagonist of a clean and fluid series ”; demonstrating a clear improvement in physical condition, albeit a bit 'gave in on skis in the final. “I am very happy with this result because it is a pleasant confirmation: I have a peace of mind and a physical condition that I had never found in my entire career”, concluded Bormolini. A collective result that brings a real breath of fresh air and that bodes well for Sunday's Pursuit, where the Italian team will be complete for the men while the women with the usual Vittozzi and Wierer, on the launching pad to improve the stage positions and look for, in particular in the case of Dorothea, what would be the first podium of the season.
