The Östersund World Championships will remain for a long time in the hearts and memories of Italian biathlon fans.

With the two gold medals obtained by Dorothea Wierer and Dominik Windisch in the line-up starting on Sunday 17 March, Italy is in fact on the podium of the medal table of the world championship. In all, the medals won by the Azzurri were 5 (2 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze). The objective of the vigil was to conquer three laurels and was reached early. The apotheosis of the final day, which marked an indelible and extraordinary page of the whole Italian sport, however, projected the Italian national team into another dimension, making the Swedish one become the best ever world championship in the history of biathlon nostrano.
Dominated by the medal collection was Norway, which ended with 9 medals, of which 5 were gold medals. The Scandinavian team has been full of titles in the team trials, but it has also collected podiums with both the women's and men's sectors. Honorable square instead for Germany, which has collected 7 laurels, two of which are the most prized metal.
Said of Italy, clamorously third, in fourth place was placed the hostess Sweden with 3 medals, equally divided between gold, silver and bronze. Instead, France (0-1-3), with the broken bones after the last editions, did not bring home even one gold and Austria (0-0-1), entered its own medal on the last occasion thanks to the bronze obtained by Julian Eberhard in the Male Mass Start.
