Biathlon: Monika Hojnisz and Maciej Starega celebrate the wedding

This morning the 27-year-old biathlete from Chorzow married the strongest Polish cross-country skier, Maciej Starega.

After the recent marriages of two national ski jumping favorites, such as Maciej Kot and Dawid Kubacki, the leader of the Polish biathlon movement is wed. In the last season Hojnisz raised the bar of his performances, finding a continuity never seen before. In December in the Individual of Pokljuka he achieved the second podium in his career in individual competitions of first level, after the bronze medal obtained at the 2013 World Championships in Nove Mesto in Mass. The podium obtained on Slovenian soil was not an isolated episode, so much so that in the first part of winter the Polish gave a hard time to the blue Wierer and Vittozzi and to Kaisa Mäkäräinen. In total, there were six top 10 places, including two fourth places, in the Hochfilzen Pursuit and in the Soldier Hollow Sprint. The only flaw was a season ending, which did not allow her to be a protagonist at the World Championships in Oestersund and in the final stage of Oslo. In the end, Hojnisz took tenth place in the overall World Cup standings. Less satisfied was the season of the groom Maciej Starega, specialist of the free technique Sprint. In the winter just ended, the twenty-eight-year-old from Poland has hit the points zone four times, always in the favorite format, reaching the 11th place in Dobbiaco as a maximum result.
