In the late afternoon today at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, which usually hosts the home games of Schalke 04, the traditional Christmas biathlon festival was staged.

The competition, to which ten pairs were registered, opened with a mass start, followed by a chase with a halving gap compared to those accumulated in the first fraction.
In the first part of the race was distinguished the blue couple, formed by Dorothea Wierer and Lukas Hofer, who despite seven errors at the polygon preceded by 3 "the French Anaïs Bescond and Emilien Jacquelin and 6" the Domracheva-Bjørndalen, both farewell contest.
The Italians then dominated the second fraction. Wierer escaped thanks to a sensational polygon and Hofer subsequently increased the advantage by forcing the fund. Italy has therefore moved to the last change with a margin of 25% on the rest of the competition.
In the final series, however, the South Tyrolean player made three mistakes, leaving room for comebacks from behind. Simon Schempp took advantage of this, with the "zero" in the shot reduced the gap to 4 "and in the final round he hung up the blue, after a phase of study Hofer approached the final straight, winning the sprint .
The Germans Franziska Preuss and Simon Schempp second and Domracheva-Bjørndalen third were also on the podium. Fourth the other German couple, composed by Hermmann and Doll.
