At a press conference held in Minsk, the Belarusian champion announced the farewell from competitive activity to the world.

"I thought about it long after the end of the season. I tried to find a compromise that would allow me to reconcile my daughter's growth and sports activity. Unfortunately I did not find the optimal solution, so I made the decision to end my racing career. It was not a simple choice and the years spent as biathlete will be unforgettable. I want to thank all those who have been close to me over the years ".
With this statement Darya officially announced his farewell to the races, thus following in the footsteps of her husband, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who had retired at the end of last season. The biathlon world will have to do without an athlete who has written an indelible page of this sport in twelve years of career. Domracheva closes with 34 victories and 81 podiums in individual top-level competitions, 6 Olympic medals including 4 gold, 7 championship medals including 2 gold, a general world cup.
