Dorothea Wierer at Polygon 360 from Kontiolahti: "Safety at the shooting range allowed me to win the individual"

In the Eurosport study with Dario Puppo and Massimiliano Ambesi, the South Tyrolean talks about his feelings after the first two World Cup races together with the technician of the blue biathlon team Andrea Zanotti, connected by the hotel in Kontiolahti where he is staying the Italian team.

Dario Puppo and Massimiliano Ambesi opened the seventh episode of Poligono 360 with a nice anecdote relating to Saturday's race: "When we saw Andrea Zanotti inciting Dorothea almost by chasing her, just as happened at the last World Championships in Anterselva, we understood that victory could come for real". And Dorothea herself confirms: "Andrea's support was very important, also because in the fourth lap I didn't have any more". The blue coach himself explained how important it is to support athletes along the track, especially during the last lap, even if the presence of the public usually hinders communication with the athletes (as confessed by Wierer herself). "I had good sensations at the shooting range" - begins the thirty-year-old, winner of the last two World Cups - "This allowed me to get the victory on Saturday; unfortunately, on Sunday, however, I was unable to re-enter". The safety issue was also touched upon: "A bit of everything has changed: no one strangers enter the hotel anymore, we wear a mask from the moment we leave the room until just before the race; fortunately, the level of security is high". And on the level of the opponents she is not yet unbalanced: "The results of the first races depend a lot on the type of preparation that was carried out, for some athletes the state of form may last only a few weeks. In these conditions, Norwegians and Swedes usually express themselves a lot. good". Coach Andrea Zanotti, on the other hand, spoke about the state of form of the various teams: "Those who have done more training on the snow and in the north, with lower altitudes, start slightly ahead. To fill this gap, I am already confident to see progress this week, I think that for Hochfilzen our level of form can be very close to the national teams that are more so at the moment. " And he concluded with a brief judgment on the team performance in this first stage: "Lisa Vittozzi is slowly recovering form after two weeks at home due to Covid: progress was already made yesterday. Dorothea in addition to the excellent performance on Saturday , yesterday did not disfigure, despite the three rounds of penalty. Sanfilippo and Gontier must gain confidence at the shooting range; Irene Lardsschneider still has to get used to the rhythms of the World Cup. In the men's sector I am happy with Hofer's form, Braunhofer must gain experience because he is young, Bionaz is close to getting the first points in the cup. "
