As announced in recent weeks, the trip to Asia has been skipped and therefore the pre-Olympic competitions will not take place on the snow in Beijing. The Ibu maintains the line adopted up to now and assigns a second stop to the Czech town, before closing in the Holmenkollen temple.

In this period of few certainties and in which it is difficult to look to the future in the medium / long term, the IBU, a few days before the start of the season, wanted to set very specific goals to give completeness to a Cup calendar. A world that for a third had remained only a hypothesis until now. In fact, the three stages of the last cup period have been made official, the ones that will be played after the Pokljuka World Cup.
The federation's line has remained faithful to one of the principles that had guided it up to now: the limitation of travel and the creation of a "health bubble" that can include athletes and professionals. In this sense, the already announced cancellation of the Beijing stage and the organization of a second race weekend in Nove Mesto should be read. A first stage will therefore be held in the Czech town from 4 to 7 March with Relays, Sprints and Pursuits scheduled. The following week will be replicated instead with Sprint, Pursuits and Mixed Relays. After that the athletes will move to Norway, to Oslo. On the hill of Holmenkollen from 18 to 21 March the final act of the World Cup will be staged with Sprint, Pursuits and Mass Start.
It is by no means excluded that the calendar may change again during construction. Much will depend on the evolution of the pandemic in the host countries. But today the intention of the IBU is to guarantee a "regular" calendar with the same number of stages initially foreseen.
