The names of those directly involved have not yet been disclosed, but it seems that among them are the Olympic champion of the Vancouver Mass Start 2010 Evgeny Ustiugov, Svetlana Sleptsova, Alexander Petchenkin and Alexander Chernyshev. Ustiugov, interviewed by the Russian media, said he was not aware of the issue that involved him despite the fact that he had hung the carbine for four years.
The athletes and the Russian Federation will have 14 days to respond to the notification and if the violations of the anti-doping rules should not be recognized as such, the cases would be submitted to the attention of the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel. This new case of doping comes a week after the start of the annual IBU conference, during which a new president will be elected.
