The twenty-nine-year-old German biathlete fell during a mountain bike training last week.

The accident, which occurred in Ruhpolding, caused the dislocation of the right shoulder. After the first tests the doctors of the German national team decided to intervene surgically. The operation took place yesterday in a clinic in Munich and everything seems to have gone well. Recovery times are not yet clear but it is likely that before returning to training Schempp will have to wait 4-6 weeks.
