Austrian victory in the first edition of the Stuttgarter Nationen Cup, the event thrust held last weekend in the beautiful Schlossplatz in Stuttgart.

The race excellently organized by Bob-Club Solitude Stuttgart, was a kind of real test in view of the upcoming season'', since its the capital of Baden-Württemberg will host the next edition of the World Championships of thrust.
In front of the large audience present, battled many as 18 athletes (should have been 20, but at the last minute'' Manuel Machata and Joshua Bohm gave a lump sum) representing Germany and Austria.
The rules of the competition stated that the 8 two-man bobsleigh crew members (7 male and one female) had to play 6 rounds, and'' at the end of the last run was drafted the final summing up only the 4 best times for each crew.
The Austrians Markus Sammer, Marcus and Christian Rangl Smetana had virtually no rivals, proving to be significantly higher than the competition. The red and white already during the first run have established a stratospheric 4 "52 (a reference clock that during the event has never been beaten) by immediately putting a serious threat to the final triumph.
For Sammer, this victory has a special flavor because it is his first overall win of his career, he and the recent world championships junior had won the bronze medal in the two-man bobsleigh.
Behind the winners, trailing by 17 cents, were placed the Germans Johannes Lochner, Gregor Bernbach and Nikolai Ekimov (silver junior world champion in office) who have been best to just 10 cents on the winner of the European Cup two-man bobsleigh and four Nico Walter.
The triumphant day in Austria is home was completed by the victory of Christina Hangster and Franziska Rath that were awarded with ease the test female.
