Cortina ready for the Italian bob and skeleton boost championships

Less than three weeks after obtaining the organization of the 2026 Olympics, Cortina is already ready to host the first international competition of the bob and skeleton season: the Italian push championships.

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July at the "Renzo Alverà" thrust gun located in the Fiames area inside the "Antonella De Rigo" Sports Center, the main Italian protagonists of bob and skeleton will battle for the Italian summer titles. The event organized as usual by the Bob Club Cortina in collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports and Services Ampezzo Federation of Cortina will make use for the first time of the prestigious patronage of the Cortina Foundation which has included this event among the most important events for the promotion of the Alpine Ski World Championships of 2021. Similar to the previous edition, the Italian championship will also be open to foreign athletes and above all it will be an important moment to bring new athletes from other sports closer to these two disciplines, especially in view of the Olympic Games of 2026. Also this year, in fact, Bob Club Cortina on the sidelines of the official competitions, will provide a monobob with the intention of promoting discipline to all the kids and athletes who want to try these two sports, and maybe among them will come a new talent to bring to the World Cup in the coming seasons. The event will open on Saturday afternoon at 3.00 pm with the official training sessions at which the Team Captain Meeting will follow at 17.00. On Sunday, starting at 10.00, it will be serious, with the start of the two-man bobsleigh and skeleton competitions (male and female) which will award the Italian summer titles. Cortina will therefore return to embrace the bob and skeleton two disciplines that are part of the history and DNA of the "Pearl of the Dolomites". These championships will in fact be a sort of "laying of the foundation stone" in view of the start of the expected renovation work on the Monti Trail, a historic facility closed for a decade, which will be revived by hosting the Olympic Games in just under 7 years 2026. Budello that despite all the Bob Club Cortina volunteers have tried to continue to preserve over the years, with constant maintenance and cleaning interventions, the last of which was held just last Saturday. In short, an event not to be missed waiting to see the bobs and skeletons whizzing along the frozen curves of the Monti track.
