Friedrich's brace and first acute in the World Cup for Laura Nolte in La Plagne

The 2019-20 bobsleigh season continues in the spirit of Francesco Friedrich and Germany. In La Plagne in France, on a track little used in the maximum circuit and therefore little known by the crews, the Teutonic team has conquered three successes on three scheduled races.

In the men's bobsleigh the champion Francesco Friedrich won both the bobsleigh and the bobsleigh bouts. In two, the ruler of the discipline accompanied by the brakeman Alexander Schueller, took the Latvian Oskars Kibermanis by 26 cents and the surprising Swiss Michael Vogt by 34, who conquered the first podium of his career in the World Cup. Friedrich credited with the best thrust partials has always been able to draw perfect lines, difficult to emulate from the competition, climbing the top step of the podium for the second time this season. Excellent fourth place for the British Brad Hall second at the end of the first descent, which preceded the second of the Germans Richard Oelsner. Seventh place for Nico Walther, while only tenth came the Olympic champion Justin Kripps, great protagonist of the North American tests. In the four-man bobsleigh Friedrich and the brakemen Margis, Schueller and Bauer have folded the internal competition of Johannes Lochner, who did not take part in the two-man bobsleigh competition, of 21 cents, trimming heavy detachments to the other participants. Third position at 33 cents from the top for the "usual" Kibermanis, fourth place for Nico Walther, 69 cents behind Friedrich. Friedrich who remains firmly in command of both World Cup rankings. Among the girls the first career success for the German Laura Nolte who, assisted by Deborah Levi, gave Germany the second victory of the season. The young Teutonic preceded on the podium the Canadian Christine De Bruin of 21 cents and 22 the compatriot Stephanie Schneider who had imposed herself a week ago in Winterberg. Only the fourth favorite came on the eve, the Canadian from this American year Kaillie Humphries, who has never been in a fight for victory. Fifth the dominatrix of last season Mariama Jamanka who continues to miss something to play for the podium. In the general classification he commands firmly Humphries thanks to the first two seasonal hits and to the two fourth places collected in the last two races. In La Plagne the Italian team showed up in full, deploying at least one crew in all three races. In the men's field, the best result came from the four-man bobsleigh with Patrick Baumgartner, Lorenzo Bilotti, Alex Verginer and Costantino Ughi who finished in sixteenth position. In the two-man bobsleigh difficulties continue for Baumgartner who, together with his co-driver Verginer, failed to go beyond eighteenth place. In France she made her absolute debut for the blue female crew made up of the Friulian long-distance player Tania Vicenzino and Anna Schenk who finished in fourteenth and last place, paying a heavy delay compared to the competition thanks to an overthrow. The feeling is that at this moment the Italian pink crew has not yet reached the right level of experience to stably compete in the maximum bobsleigh races. The next round of the bobsleigh World Cup is scheduled in seven days on the Igls track at the gates of Innsbruck.
