The German team was once again led by the world champion Francesco Friedrich who hit the two-man and four-man doubles for the third time this season. The two-time Pyeongchang Olympic Champion 2018 has literally dominated both competitions in the program by signing the best lap times in all 4 downhill runs.
Friedrich in tandem with Thorsten Margis won the fifth win of the season out of five races in the two-man bob, ahead of 15 cents national team mate Johannes Lochner who managed to get on the podium for the second time in a row. Third place to 34 cents from the winner, for the "usual" Oskars Kibermanis now a fixed presence in the top of the standings.
Excellent test for the Czech Dvorak fifth overall, which preceded by 11 cents Christoph Hafer deployed by the German technicians to replace Nico Walther.
In the four-wheel Bob Friedrich and the brakes Grothkopp, Margis and Schueller took the third win of the season, preceding the Latvian crew piloted by Kibermanis. If the first two of the ranking were divided by just 19 cents much wider was the gap accused by the other contenders.
On the third step of the podium was Johannes Lochner who closed with 44 cents late from Friedrich. Fourth the Russian Andrianov, fifth Dvorak and sixth the Canadian Kripps. Seventh place for Nico Walther, penalized by the physical problem of Koenigssee last weekend, which forced him to leave.
In the general classification Francesco Friedrich continues to lead both rankings, in the two-man bob the German has 121 points ahead of Kibermanis, while in the four-man bob the Pirna's champion has a margin of 58 length on the Lochner.
Among the women there was a splendid three-way challenge for the final success that won the Teutonic Stephanie Schneider. The German paired with the brakeman Ann-Kristin Strack had closed the first heat in third place, but thanks to a second descent all 'attack was the' only rider able to get under the wall of 53 seconds bypassing in one shot Elana Meyers-Taylor and the leader of the general classification Mariama Jamanka.
Schneider took the second win of the season in the World Cup, giving Germany the fifth victory in five races. In the ranking of the World Cup in the first three places there are three Teutonic athletes with Jamanka in first position followed by 109 lengths of delay from Schneider itself, while in third place we find Anna Koehler who came to fourth place in Igls.
The next round of the Bob World Cup is scheduled for 6 days on the beautiful Olympia track in Sankt Mortiz. Will Germany make 18 out of 18?
