It is a Germany without rivals that presented itself in the first two events of the bobsled World Cup season. In Winterberg in the second round of the season, the Teutonic national monopolized the two male podiums and occupied for two thirds the female one.

In spite of the German superpower, however, some rather fought races have been staged that have been resolved only in the final meters of the final heats. In the men's field in the two four-man bobsled races in the program (the first of the season ed) we witnessed a wonderful three-way fight for success. In the first competition the victory, the first in Winterberg of his career, went to Nico Walther who, together with the brakes Paul Krenz, Alexander Roediger and Erik Franke, preceded by just seven cents the two-time Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich. The podium all made in Germany was completed by Johannes Lochner who thanks to the best time printed in the second heat overtook the Latvian Oskars Kibermanis.
In race 2 Francesco Friedrich instead had to fight on the edge of the cents this time with Johannes Lochner who at the end of the first descent occupied the second position just 2 cents from the summit. The champion of Pirna supported by the brakes Margis, Bauer and Grothkopp has faced the second heat with the same determination with which last February grabbed the two Olympic bobsled, giving the compatriot the beauty of 34 cents, taking home the third success seasonal and leadership in the World Cup standings. Third place for Nico Walther who finished fifth in the first heat, while in fourth place Kibermanis was again placed.
Also on this occasion no blue crew was employed in the World Cup circuit. The coach Omar Sacco preferred to deploy the Italian team to Koenigssee in the European Cup. In Bavaria, the unpublished female association composed by Giada Andreutti and Tania Vicenzino made a surprise debut. The Friulian duo from the track and field after the good tests in the first two untitled monobob races, was fielded in Koenigssee test winning a sixteenth and a fifteenth place, in a competition that saw at the start a greater number of participants than at the World Cup races.
In the men's competitions of the cadet circuit, Patrick Baumgartner showed at this time that he was more at home in the four-man bobsledder than the two-man bobsled. The 'South Tyrolean at the start along with Mattia Variola, Alex Verginer and Lorenzo Bilotti, has indeed placed in sixth place in race 1, printing in the second descent an interesting third time of the heats that' led to only 15 cents from the podium . In the second test of bobsled four Baumgartner with Simone Fontana instead of Variola he was classified in tenth position.
In the two-man bobsleigh, the 2012 Innsbruck Olympic Youth Champion closed the two races in fifteenth and sixteenth respectively. Seasonal debut for two other male crews piloted by Costantino Ughi and Mattia Variola, who started to gain experience in the race.
Both the World Cup and the European Cup circuit now take a long Christmas break. Both series will return the Befana weekend.
