The 34-year-old English champion who dominated the long jump scene from the 2021 London Gold medal to the 2015 world title has decided to take on the challenge of a new Olympic dream in Bobsleigh.

Retired prematurely from the Athletics scene due to problems with his left ankle, Rutherford told The Guardian in recent days about his journey towards Beijing 2022. Having chosen to resume training during the first lock down for Covid, Milton's long-distance player Keynes was tempted by Kaillie Humpries, the Canadian hobbyist with a US passport who not only has four world titles and two Olympic gold medals to her credit, but at the recent Altenberg World Championships she won with Lolo Jones, a former hurdler twice world champion in indoor 60hs, establishing herself as a favorite at next year's Olympic Games.
Inspired by the Canadian, Rutherford reached out to British driver Lamin Deen, 12th at last month's World Championships, and team technicians Steve Smith and John Herbert. In a discipline in constant search of weight athletes but with marked doses of speed, Greg's candidacy was immediately taken into consideration and, although it requires a necessary learning phase, his state of form at the height of that of his possible teammates among which two other veterans from the tracks of Athletics stand out such as Joel Fearon and James Dasaolu, centometrists with personal figures of less than 10 ".
In the past, the gut of the Bob has seen the return of famous athletes from other disciplines. The only athlete in the history of the Olympics to have collected both summer and winter Olympic titles was the American Eddie Eagan who won the Four-Man Bobsleigh at Lake Placid in 1932 after becoming Olympic champion in Boxing in Antwerp in 1920. Returning at the Athletics union - Bob, the American Lauryn Williams, Gold in the 4x100 Relay in London 2012 and Silver medal in the 100 meters in Athens 2004, won the Silver medal in the Bob in Sochi 2014.
The steps have not always been so glorious. The legend Edwin Moses, ten years old and 122 unbeaten races in the 400 hurdles with two Olympic Golds - the 1980 Moscow boycott of the USA deprived him of an Olympics as a sure favorite, made some appearances with a third place in a World Cup event in the 1990 and seventh place at the 1991 World Championships.
The Italian experiences are less fortunate: the world champion in Jumping with the Auction Giuseppe Gibilisco in 2017 played a couple of races as a brakeman in the Bob a Four without leaving a trace. Worse went to the decathlete William Frullani, summoned for the Sochi Olympics and footed by a controversial positive doping control for involuntary intake of a prohibited substance.
