Kripps and Humphries dominate in the World Cup, Baumgartner on the podium in the European Cup

A week after the German one-two in the two opening laps of the World Cup in two-seater, at Lake Placid in the four-man bobs-board comes Justin Kripps's rescue which wins both races in the program.

The Canadian Olympic gold in the two-man bobsled, on the New York state track, competed in two races with the brakemen Benjamin Coakwell, Cameron Stones and Ryan Sommer, putting heavy gaps on the main rivals. In the first test of the season Kripps cut the Latvian Kibermanis off 39 cents and the Austrian Benjamin Maier 47 who returned to the podium almost two years after the last time in the top 3. Off the podium the favorite German crews driven by Johannes Lochner and Francesco Friedrich who finished paired in fourth position. Friedrich in particular paid a great deal for a second rather unclean descent which caused him to slip out of the top3. In the second test in the program, Justin Kripps has again made the void ahead of 30 cents Lochner and 33 Friedrich who also on this occasion lost a placement compared to the first descent. The Latvian Oskars Kibermanis is confirmed at the top of the specialty as he finishes fourth at 35 cents from the summit. In the women's second consecutive victory for the ex-Canadian and now US Kaillie Humphries, who like seven days ago gets along with the brakeman Lauren Gibbs a clear success. The two-time Olympic champion preceded on the podium the increasingly surprising German Kim Kalicki (15 cents cut off) who in the first year in the maximum bobsleigh circuit gets a third and a second place in two races. Complete the top three the Canadian Christine De Bruin detached 22 cents from the summit, which precedes the German Schneider and Jamanka. In Winterberg in the European Cup circuit the first signs of recovery come from the Italian bob. In the two four-man bobsleds in the program, Patrick Baumgartner won his first podium of the season and seventh place. The South Tyrolean driver, accompanied by the brakers Lorenzo Bilotti, Alex Verginer and Costantino Ughi, was the protagonist of an excellent second heat in race two which allowed him to close at only 36 cents from the winner Buchmueller and to go up from the eighth to the third place. Mattia Variola also scored points in the four-man bobsleigh, which together with his team-mates Castellazzi, Atchori and Brighetti finished in fifteenth and eighteenth position. If in the four-man bob Baumgartner proves to be competitive even if for now only in the cadet circuit, in the two-man bob the South Tyrolean rider continues to reveal some difficulties. In Winterberg the driver of the Fiamme Azzurre however took the best result of the season closing in seventh place paired with Costantino Ughi. Instead, Variola and Achtori placed in seventeenth place. In the women's field in the two German double success tests with Nolte and Koehler For the blue colors two fourteenth places arrived with Giada Andreutti and Silvia Taini. Weekend to forget quickly for Tania Vicenzino and Anna Schenk overturned in both tests. Now the World Cup will take a long Christmas break and will resume the first weekend of January from Winterberg, while the cadet series will start again next week from Koenigssee.
