The winners of the awards for the best coach and the best skiman among the Piedmontese protagonists in the World Cup are the frabosano Gianluca Rulfi and the limonese Stefano Dalmasso, titles indicated by the Ski Club GIS-Italian Ski Journalists to assign the awards established by the Montagnedoc Group in course of the ceremony that was held on Saturday 29 August in the former headquarters of the Sestriere tourism office.
Gianluca Rulfi, current technical director and head coach of the Italian women's national teams, is one of the architects of the successes of Italian top skiing at least in the last fifteen years, having followed practically all the top Azzurri as a coach. Rulfi accompanied in their technical and competitive growth the Italian specialists of fast disciplines such as Christof Innerhofer, Peter Fill and Dominik Paris, then worked with the women's national team with the position of head coach of the World Cup multipurpose group, which included Sofia Goggia, Nadia Fanchini, Elena Curtoni, Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino from Cuneo.
In the meantime Rulfi has become the technical director of all the women's teams and, after the Olympic medals of Goggia and Brignone in 2018, led the Aosta Valley champion to conquer the general World Cup and Marta Bassino to her first success in the White Circus.
Stefano Dalmasso has more than thirty years of experience in ski preparation, having started with the Italian women's national team. Among the athletes for whom he has prepared the tools are Denise Karbon, the Spanish Carolina Ruiz Castillo, the Swiss Olympic champion Dominique Gisin, the French slalomists Jean Baptiste Grange and Clément Noel. The project and the Coaches award have the aim of maintaining high interest in the theme of the mountain and the multiple potentialities of its territory, with the desire to enhance its excellence.
The special prize named after Valerio Arri, Olympic medalist for Italy at the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp, was awarded this year to Gianni Poncet, director of the National Ski School of Sestriere, president of AMSAO and in the past competition manager of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics for alpine skiing.
The delivery of the awards was preceded by a conference that dealt with the relationship between school and sport at various working tables, touching on topics such as face-to-face teaching and social distancing, educational projects that build synergies between the school world and sport, '' orientation and enhancement of attitudes, strategies and reference models for students' motivation. In addition to personalities from the political world, the conference was attended by the Vice-President of the FISI Pietro Marocco, the Councilor secretary of the Western Alps Committee Lorenzo Vettore and the President of the Turin Provincial Committee Diego Chiavegato.
