The world championship of mountain running, staged at Villa La Angostura, saw the Azzurri play a leading role.

The Italian national team has taken the beauty of 7 medals in the world championships in Argentina, in the heart of the wildest Patagonia.
A double gold medal has arrived in the Under 20 category, with the Trentino Angela Mattevi, originally from Segonzano (Val di Cembra), who beat everyone in the individual test and dragged her companions to win the team title, shared with Giovanna Selva (seventh), Anna Arnaudo (ninth) and Elisa Pastorelli (19th).
The bronze team has arrived, again among the U20s, but at the male level with Marco Zoldan, Luca Merli, Massimiliamo Berti and Giacomo Bruni, in addition to the silver medal for the Como-born Francesco Puppi (world champion in 2017 in Premana) in the trial senior on the 41.5 km, with the team bronze along with the Varese Gabriele Bacchion (eighth), the Venetian Luca Cagnati (17th), the outgoing champion from Brescia Alessandro Rambaldini (24th) and the Como-born Fabio Ruga (25th).
Finally the silver, always among the seniors but on the 14.7 km, for Cesare Maestri, and another bronze medal team, in a two-day world competition that marked the beginning of these levels also of a star like Laura Dahlmeier who, having abandoned competition in the world of biathlon at the end of last season, immersed herself in a thousand other activities, from the enormous passion for mountaineering right up to mountain running. For the German champion, 27th place in the "long", with a final time of 4h20''57 ", detached from 31 minutes by the winner, the Romanian Cristina Simion.
