In Piedmont the 32nd edition of the Gala, with winter sports in the spotlight thanks to the home champion and the three-time winner of the Snowboard World Cup.

Marcello Lippi, Giovanni Malagò, Davide Cassani and the blue champions of snowboarding and alpine skiing Michela Moioli and Marta Bassino: many prominent personalities from the world of sport were guests of the 32nd Galà della Castagna d''oro in Frabosa Sottana, an event that, between Saturday and last Sunday, chose to be there at all costs, respecting the prevention rules against Covid-19 and the principles of social distancing.
The Gala is the event that has always opened the winter season in Valle Maudagna, whetting the desire for skiing of those who frequent Prato Nevoso, Artesina and Frabosa Soprana, in a word the Mondolè Ski. The names would not even need any introduction, but how can we forget the five Scudetti and the 2006 World Cup won by Lippi as a coach, the battles of President Malagò to defend the independence of Italian sport and Coni from politics, the experience by Davide Cassani as a professional runner, television commentator and coach of the Italian national road cycling team, but in the case of the winter disciplines above all the Olympic gold and the three World Cups of Michela Moioli in snowboardcross, up to the rising star of skiing blue, the Cuneo-based Marta Bassino great protagonist of last season of the World Cup, with the first victory obtained in the giant of Killington.
Typical products, street food and handicrafts attract visitors from Piedmont and Liguria every year to Frabosa Sottana, but the sports champions are the real great attraction of the Castagna d''Oro, interviewed this year by a very high profile journalist like Marino Bartoletti and welcomed by the President of the Region Alberto Cirio, by the presidents of the Cassa di Risparmio di Torino and Cuneo Foundations, Giovanni Quaglia and Giandomenico Genta, by the president of the FISI Western Alps Committee, Pietro Blengini.
Urged by the questions of the journalists present in Frabosa Sottana, Marta Bassino drew up a positive balance of the summer preparation of the Elite World Cup group of the National team on the European glaciers, saying she was confident in view of the opening giant of the season, scheduled for Saturday 17 October in Soelden .
