After the indication arrived yesterday by the IOC, the International Federation will prohibit the participation in any event and at all levels to athletes of the nations involved in the war in Ukraine.

The FIS Council met today to discuss the recommendation of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that all international federations should not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in their competitions.
Unanimously, the council of the International Federation has decided that with immediate effect no athlete from the two countries will be able to participate in any FIS competition at any level, until the end of the 2021/2022 season. "For the FIS Council it was not an easy decision, but it was an act in accordance with the Statute which states that the FIS will conduct its activities in a politically neutral manner, a cornerstone of the values of the International Federation, adopted from 140 member countries ”, reads the note.
The FIS therefore asked all national federations to support athletes involved in the return journey to their homes and to ensure the full support of the international ski community in these difficult times. The Council expressed its deepest and most sincere hope that the conflict in Ukraine will end quickly and that the international sports community can begin the process of returning to normal to compete with all athletes and all nations.
As previously announced, the FIS, in solidarity with the Ukrainian Ski Federation, is providing immediate financial, logistical and technical support to Ukrainian athletes and teams until they are able to return home safely.
