A charity auction launched by none other than Pope Francis, who intervened at the end of the general audience in his private library to meet a small representation of athletes who should have participated in the international meeting "We Run Together - Simul Currebant".
What is it about? It is an initiative organized by Athletica Vaticana, in collaboration with the Sports Group of the Yellow Flames of the Guardia di Finanza, the "Cortile dei Gentili" and the Fidal committee of the Lazio region; Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, accompanied the delegation to contribute to the current Covid-19 emergency by organizing a charity auction in support of the health personnel of the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospitals in Bergamo and Poliambulanza di Brescia. "They are heroes who are living their profession as a vocation - the Pope's words - putting their own lives at risk to save others".
The auction will be active from Monday 8 June on the charitystars.com online platform, with memorabilia offered by many champions, such as Antonio Rossi, Tania Cagnotto and Filippo Tortu, but referring to the winter disciplines names such as those of Dorothea Wierer, Sofia Goggia, Arianna Fontana and Kristian Ghedina.
