A monumental Yu-Na Kim rips the world title in Carolina Kostner

The World Figure Skating Championships, hosted by the "Budweiser Gardens" in London, ended with one of the most exciting free programs women'' s last decade

L'' pending challenge, which was between the Olympic champion Kim Yu-Na, the defending champion Carolina Kostner world and so far undefeated season in Mao Asada, has seen the triumph of the Korean champion, returned to compete in the World Championships in nearly two years away from'' last appearance. The level of competition was very high, but success to leakage Kim leaves no room for regrets jokes because even with programs without errors would not have changed the outcome. The twenty-two of Bucheon skated a "hard" without smudging bordering on perfection of each element presented. All jumps, including two triple lutz, were performed in an exemplary manner and were not less steps and spins. The only layback spin (spinning upside down) did not get the maximum available (level four), but because it was not built to reach it. To close the circle, even the'' interpretation of "Les Miserables" by , Claude-Michel Schönberg was an anthology to the point that the standing ovation started well in advance of the end of the music. Kim, the second world title of his career, was obviously the best of the day on each item of the program components, maintaining an average well above nine points from any ever achieved. The place of honor went to the'' best'' s Carolina Kostner last decade, able to complete a triple lutz wonderful opening in the disc and resubmit the combination triple flip / triple toe loop that had given so much satisfaction in the past. The defending champion, fell on the ice with a problem of epistaxis, made a couple of mistakes that have cost ten points, but despite a single Rittberger and fall on the second triple salchow, downgraded to a double, it has improved the primacy staff. The podium was completed by Japan's Mao Asada, author of the second free day, which enabled it to recover from the sixth position occupied at the end of the short program. L'' student of Nobuo Sato has taken all possible risks failing to complete the'' difficult triple axel at the opening of the program and showing a better overall quality jumps over previous outings of the season. However, just a triple flip sottoruotato not allowed to finish the race in second place. On balance, it has occurred in reverse order the same podium of the 2008 World Championships played in Gothenburg, Sweden. For Kim is the sixth world championship medal, Kostner, however, is rising at an altitude of approximately five and Asada came to four. The fourth place went to Japan's Kanako Murakami who progressed, complete with a new personal best, preceded the Americans Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold. It should be noted also the seventh place of the sixteen year old Chinese Zijun Li, earn good at five positions thanks to the fourth overall score in the longer segment of the race. Valentina Marchei, remained lingering in the short program, has closed its sixth worldwide in eighteenth place. I just regret for not having expressed about the level of excellence of the European Championships, but also the certainty of having now reached full artistic maturity, evidenced by good marks obtained on the components of the program. In light of today's result, Korea, Japan and the United States will have three places available for the Olympic Games. Italy, Canada, China and Russia will be able, however, to deploy two athletes. A place will, finally, to France, Sweden, Ukraine, Estonia, Slovakia, Germany and Great Britain.
