The "Funcentral Ice Rink" in Mexico City was the scene of the second stage of the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating.

The protagonist of the event was the fourteen-year U.S. Nathan Chen (218,68), which, while giving up the triple axel, he literally crushed the competition qualified proving to be a top-level skater.
The intriguing pupil of Rafael Arutyunyan has flirted with perfection in both segments of the race, highlighting exceptional quality on each item and presenting programs especially rich in transitional passages, made almost rare in junior category. Moreover, in free, you are afforded the luxury of complete seven triples in the second half of the disc, including two lutz and two flips.
The high final score achieved speaks volumes about the potential of the athlete who, by adding the triple axel in its programs (which is already completed and presented no problems in the stage of junior Grand Prix of Linz last season), could encourage even the 240 points, stellar result for a fourteen and more generally for the category.
Pride of place went to the interesting Japanese Ryuju Hino (199,64), ranked third in the final in Sochi last season. On the technical side, the student of Hiroshi Nagakubo was able to hold his own against Chen, despite a disastrous fall on trying to quadruple toe loop in the free program. However, in the artistic field the game has not even opened since the skating of the Japanese proved to be rather academic, however, and no passages of transition. In any case, Hino, trained by Hiroshi Nagakubo, he had the satisfaction of improving their personal best.
On the lowest rung of the podium of the Israeli U.S. school Samohin Daniel (182.89), making his debut in an international competition.
Trained by his father, the fifteen stationed in Ontario, California, has been distinguished by the mastery of all the triple axel apart, and had the merit to skate two discs cleaned with a balanced distribution of the elements and the presence some transitional step here and there.

In second place was placed the promising Russian Natalia Ogoreltsova, left in the wake of the winner in the first segment of the race, but then betrayed in the free program from the triple Rittberger, its historical strength. The thirteen year old from St. Petersburg, since small note to the general public the ability to complete fluency in combination with two triple Rittberger, fell in the execution of their dish of the house eventually disunited and to commit some mistakes too in the second part of the disc.
The podium was completed by seventeen U.S. Mariah Bell (153,17), author of the second free which also earned her a new personal best.

Even in the dance, the victory went to the United States thanks to the students of Pasquale Camerlengo Kaitlin Hawayek / Jean Luc Baker (136.45), which had the merit of resisting the bully back in the longer segment of the race progressed Canadian Madeline Edwards / Zhao Kai Pang (134.02).
The Italian champions junior Sofia Sforza / Francesco Fioretti (108.40), third after the short dance, they had to settle for fourth place finish in the free dance as passed by non-Russians exceptional Evdomikova / Bazin (112.78).
