For Italy, it is a day of historical significance, the one lived on the ice of Angers, at the Grand Prix de France which saw, in the competition of dance pairs, Charléne Guignard and Marco Fabbri conquer their first triumph at these levels, in the third stage of the international circuit.
As Massimiliano Ambesi explained in detail, the Azzurri had not brought home a success in the figure skating Grand Prix for seven years, given that we have to go back to another dance couple, Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte, to find a first place in November 2015 at the Cup of China.
That of the Italian duo was a clear record, with the best result in both segments of the competition and, with 207.95 points, 6 full lengths of margin against the Canadian couple formed by Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Soerensen, while the masters from home French had to settle for 3rd and 4th position with Lopareva-Brissaud and Demougeot-Le Mercier.
What's more, for Guignard-Fabbri, trained by world champion and Olympic medalist Barbara Fusar Poli, today's victory also means establishing a record of competitive longevity, thus becoming the oldest dance skaters in history to win a stage of the Grand Prix. . Chapeau.
